John joined Hayfield in 2006 as an ordinary Trustee and became Chairman of the Board in 2013. Married, 4 children.

Director of various charities in addition to Hayfield. Play Scotland, Malaptop, Baltic Street Adventure Playground.
Volunteer with Charity Tax Help for Older People.
Alan joined Hayfield’s Board in the mid 90’s as Company Secretary and has regularly been involved in the development of Hayfield’s support to deaf adults with complex additional disabilities since that time. He qualified as a solicitor in 1991, joined his present firm Simpson & Marwick in 1997, where he became a partner in 2001. He qualified as a Solicitor Advocate in 2004 and appears regularly in the Court of Session.
He is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars and his expertise extends to a broad caseload. He is married with two children.
Donessa is a qualified chartered surveyor, with architectural, business, and project management experience gained over 20 years working in large scale national multi-disciplinary consultancy companies. She set up her own independent building consultancy practice in 2014. She has experience of both public and private sectors, and across the full range of industries and property types, including specialist amenity housing. She has technical and professional knowledge in property maintenance, facilities management, regulations, and design; and general practice knowledge of project management, financial and administrative business control, and commercial awareness.
She enjoys hillwalking, contemporary art, theatre, and philosophy.
Graduated as a doctor from Edinburgh University in 1987 and started working in Mental Health in 1992.
My interest in deafness started with a patient in 2003 and I started to learn BSL in 2005.
I am now proud to lead the Scottish Mental Health Service for Deaf People.
