Despite the many challenges our service users face daily a recent report from a college lecturer was praise indeed:

“ how hard they work and how keen they are in general to produce a high quality of work. ”

The lecturer this year is concentrating on having them complete a module form the 1st yr apprentice course so they can achieve an SVQ certificate.

He then finished his observation by saying:

“ Hayfield is one of my favourite classes and they are an absolute pleasure to teach. ”

Stephen Softly ( lecturer) has been impressed with the guys, how hard they work, how keen they are and in general the quality of their work – especially CK. He informed that his work is of a high standard and praises him continually for such. On a number of occasions throughout the afternoon he gave his quirky smile which was really nice to see considering his recent change of  behaviour. He is really enjoying this new activity.

Stephen is concentrating more in having them do a module from the 1st year apprentice course so that they can achieve an SVQ certificate and not simply a college certificate. They are making a simple frame with shoulder joints amongst other things. He has also had them complete various different types of joints and put all of these together as evidence for the external verifier near the end of term.

He also praised JH for his help with the others whilst there was no staff there who could interpret the lesson. Stephen said he had taken the responsibility in ensuring they all knew what Stephen was asking etc. and informing Stephen of any difficulties..

He finished the day saying “Hayfield was one of his favourite classes and was an absolute pleasure to teach them”.
