Training Policy

Hayfield Support Services is committed to training employees and continuous professional development is encouraged.  The details of this are contained in the Staff Handbook under the heading Staff Development and Training Policy.   Hayfield will offer opportunities for development to all employees without discrimination.

 

Training Opportunities

In addition to indepth induction, regular supervision and staff appraisal procedures, Hayfield Support Services requires a number of compulsory trainings to be undertaken early on in employment by care staff, management and where appropriate administration and domestic employees.

These include, First Aid, Health and Safety, British Sign Language level 1 and level 2 and CALM (Crisis Aggression and Limitation Management).  Some of these courses require to be re-accredited annually, bi-annually, every three years or refreshed from time to time.

Also compulsory for relevant employees is Deaf Awareness/Deaf Culture, REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene and IT skills.

Care staff will be expected to undertake the relevant training to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Commission (SSSC).  E.g. SVQ 3 (Care)

Senior staff will be expected to undertake the relevant training to be registered with the SSSC - e.g. SVQ 4, Registered Manager’s Award, OU K303 or equivalent.

All staff will be expected to undertake training relevant to their post and there is an emphasis on recording courses attended which add to each employee’s Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
