Security of Medication and / or Cash In Transfer between Hayfield Locations

 

This policy is designed to inform staff and set down a procedure for the safe dispatch and receipt of medication and cash by the different departments of Hayfield Support Services.

Service Users should never be expected to carry Hayfield cash or medication between Hayfield premises, unless one of the following options is being followed...

  • A taxi is being used directly from one location to another location.

  • Staff member at dispatch location contacts staff member at receiving location by telephone, informing them about the transfer.

  • Staff member at receiving location contacts staff member at dispatch location by telephone to confirm safe arrival of items.

  1. Staff travelling between locations or passing the location can be couriers.  Where this is possible, it would be the preferred option.

  2. The taxi company on account can be used to make such transfers without passengers.  The taxi company can also be used to uplift medication from health centre and deliver to Hayfield locations.  These options can be charged to the account.  This should only be used when all other options are not possible.

  3. When cash requirements are known in advance, e.g. parties, outings, shopping trips, etc., requests should be made in advance and be collected by relevant staff.

  4. When medication or cash is going from the Centre to one of the residences, via a Friday activity outing, day care staff must take charge of the items.  At the end of the activity, staff must use one of the above options.  If at the cinema in town, staff walking the Cowcaddens group back to the residence can hand items directly to residential staff.

 

Any deviation from the above must be agreed by management.
