Service User Finances - Statement
Hayfield Support Services aims to encourage all service users to
take responsibility for their personal finances, according to their individual
needs and abilities.
-
Hayfield staff will provide financial
advice and support to all service users as required, including assistance to
maximise welfare benefits, access to personal savings and maintenance of individual financial records.
-
Hayfield staff will accept responsibility
for an individual service user’s finances, in compliance with the Adults
with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000.
-
Decisions regarding areas of
responsibility for a service user’s finances will be made jointly by the
service user, Hayfield staff, family or carers and representatives of the
referring authority, as appropriate, including solicitors, guardians,
etc.
-
Decisions about the management of service
users’ finances will be formalised in a written agreement signed by the
service user, the Day Care Manager, the day care instructor and if
appropriate the
representative of the referring authority or carer.
-
Records of service users
finances that are under the responsibility of Hayfield staff will be
available to the service user, and with their permission, to representatives
of the referring authority, or to a legally appointed inspection team, on
request.
-
Hayfield will accept responsibility for
ensuring that, where appropriate, service users’ monies, savings books,
benefit books and financial records are retained in secure settings, and are
adequately covered by insurance.
Any queries regarding service users’ finances should be addressed
immediately to the Day Care Manager or Director, who will initiate any necessary
investigation and decide on appropriate action. All such queries and/or
investigations will be recorded in the service user’s file.
