Hayfield was specifically
established to provide a range of services for deaf people who have additional
disabilities.
|
|
While Hayfield
recognises that each service user is an individual it has been convenient to view
the “additional disabilities” in terms of a small number of categories.
|
|
|
A
system of individualised care planning and a regular programme of review and
reassessment ensures that any categorisation serves solely as a tool
for providing effective and efficient services.
Hayfield
looks at working with any service user on the basis of their
individual abilities and needs, and will always attempt to
adjust its services to meet these needs
|
|
Hayfield
was initially set up as a rehabilitation service, with the aim of preparing deaf
service users for greater independence.
Since
its establishment, more than 120 deaf people have been or are presently going
through this process.
|
|
Hayfield
also provides services for a small number of individuals whose needs are so
complex or have conditions so severe as to prevent them ever being able
to achieve independence. In
these circumstances it is acknowledged that these individuals should
regard Hayfield as their home for life, and as such the aim for Hayfield
staff is to provide comfort, security and enhanced life opportunities and
experiences. |
