Deafness is often caused by serious illness or trauma, especially at birth or in childhood, and there is an assumption that deafness can sometimes be present alongside other disabilities.
People who are deaf and have additional disabilities are likely to have more complex needs. They may require additional support and supervision and might need access to special aids or equipment and extra resources.
The Hayfield care team are experienced in working with people with a range of other disabilities, such as blindness, epilepsy and cerebral palsy. Hayfield also has an ongoing commitment to develop links with health services and other organisation's in order to maximise the range of support available.
