Hayfield's primary resource is the expertise and experience of it's own care team, but it will also use various external resources to help supplement their input. Education and training is critical for development and is provided internally and externally to all service users. This helps them build crucial skills such as literacy, numeracy, communication in British Sign Language and any other medium necessary for better understanding. In-house discussion sessions are often held on a wide range of topics either with all the service users in a single group or alternatively in smaller groups that are targeted to the needs of specific individuals. Outreach services also provide an opportunity for additional input on many other issues - such as anger management. A major advantage of the Hayfield service is that it's totally community based and thus able to access a wide range of local services and amenities. Included in the community resources are expert health professionals across a range of disciplines, open access to local leisure and cultural facilities, deaf clubs, interpreters, advocates, educational establishments and public transport.
