Education

Education is a constant part of each service users day.
Service users often perceive staff as trainers, mentors and counsellors.

The basic functions of everyday life are incorporated into Hayfield’s educational reinforcement by practical experience and are demonstrated at the most elementary level whenever possible.

These functions range from shopping for supplies to food preparation, cooking and money management, through to the appropriate behaviour and social skills.

Supporting all areas of educational work is our staff group, who offer considerable experience and expertise and who are able to identify strategies appropriate to each service user in order to achieve positive outcomes

This diversity of work is all part of Hayfield’s overall educational package.

If a service user shows an interest or skill in a particular area, that interest is nurtured and encouraged.
May even take the form of further education at an external educational establishment.

Hayfield currently works in partnership with 4 Colleges throughout the Greater Glasgow area, where some service users actively participate in Access to Learning Courses that have been designed with their needs in mind.  Service users are closely supported within the college environment by Hayfield staff so that British Sign Language - BSL - communication can take place.
