Community

From their first day at Hayfield, service users take their place in the local community.
Where they are encouraged to access all the community services and facilities available to them.

For each service user all shopping from clothes to food, is in the initial stages at least, supported by Hayfield staff.

Once service users become familiar with their surroundings and have been assessed as able to do so safely, they can then enjoy shopping independently for items they wish to purchase.

Using the local bus service to get around

Making healthy food choices at the local supermarket

When it comes to shopping for their weekly food, staff will assist service users to select healthy, fresh food for preparation and cooking.

Education on healthy eating and the benefits of exercise, particular to each individual is encouraged.  Over time, service users become more selective in their overall healthy living choices.

Managing the finances - buying the food and checking the change

Dealing with the weekly finance budgeting

Through shared experiences and guidance, the service user's learning process continues with regard to managing personal finances and being responsible for themselves, thus promoting personal independence and an overall better quality of life.
