Job Description.
Hayfield Support Services specialises in personal skills
training with deaf people who also have additional difficulties. Our aim
is to work with service users to identify strategies, specifically
tailored to each individual, which will empower and enable them to live
as independently as possible.
The broad remit of the Day Care Instructor is to deliver
Hayfield’s unique specialist service provision to a group of designated
service users on a day-to-day basis, and to implement strategies which
will enhance the quality of life for each individual.
The Day Care Instructor is directly responsible to the
Deputy Day Centre Manager.
Main Duties of the Post

To be responsible
for the day-to-day instruction, supervision and safety of a
designated group of Hayfield’s service users, both within the Day
Centre and when engaged on outside activities.

To ensure service
users are aware of appropriate health and safety procedures, and in
particular fire alarm evacuation points and designated muster area,
and that general health and safety standards are maintained
throughout all group or individual activities.

To work in
conjunction with the Residential Department, if applicable, on the
ongoing assessment of need for each service user.

To complete a Day
Care Assessment report, Care and Work Development Plan and Risk
Assessments for discussion at ongoing twice yearly Review Meetings.

To identify the
needs of service users within a designated group and set new targets
as appropriate and provide opportunities for meeting those needs.
This will provide a significant contribution to the ongoing twice
yearly review process and subsequent Day Care Review Reports. With
the support of the Deputy Manager, these goals may be actioned as
appropriate, via either group work or 1:1 input.

To be aware at all
times of each service user’s whereabouts during Day Care hours of
business and to inform the Deputy Manager immediately of any
absences.

To ensure all
twice yearly reports are prepared in advance of scheduled Review
Meeting dates and following each meeting, timely submission of the
report to Managers/Administration for final completion and onward
transmission to the appropriate Social Work Department.

To be responsible
for and to maintain up-to-date financial records for weekly cash
floats and for each service user’s finances, e.g. benefits, savings,
time money etc and to ensure all book-keeping is ready and available
for checking on a monthly basis by the Manager.

To be aware of any
special information relating to service users e.g. special
medications, dietary requirements, health issues or behavioural
problems pertaining to each individual.
General Duties

To
work as part of a team of Day Care Instructors and to meet on a
weekly basis with the Deputy Manager/Manager to facilitate
discussion and planning of future work.

To
ensure all sickness / holiday absences are notified to the Deputy
Manager as soon as possible in order to provide relief cover for the
group during absence.

To
carry out any other reasonable duties which may be required from
time to time at the request of the Deputy, Manager or Director.
