There are a wide variety of leisure and recreational pursuits undertaken.  Anyone with a special interest or hobby is encouraged to develop it.  

One service user pursued his skill and enjoyment in canoeing and won two silver medals the individual 500m and the 1500m pairs at the 2006 Shanghai Special Olympics as well as the 200m and 500m Gold Medals at the Special Olympics in Glasgow 2005, and also at the European Paddle-Ability Championships in 2002 in Milan, gaining gold, silver and bronze in different events.

Throughout the year, various events take place, where service users and staff participate in activities and special occasions outwith the normal scope of activities.  

These include service users going on an annual holiday, bank holiday outings, discos and social gatherings to celebrate important dates and festivals.  

Favourite locations for holidays have been Blackpool, the Lake District, Center Parcs and even trips to Spain.   

In 2005 there are holidays organised to locations in Spain, England and Scotland

Where possible, we provide a range of holiday choices and actively encourage service user involvement in this process.  As part of their learning, service users are encouraged to save and contribute towards the cost of their annual holiday.  

This is also an effective way of teaching management of personal finances and how to achieve a successful outcome for their efforts.  

Events are a wonderful way of making friends, consolidating relationships and just having fun.
