Job Description - IT Administrator

The general role of the IT Administrator is to ensure the continued availability of the computer network and all associated resources as and where appropriate within Hayfield.  To ensure availability they are also responsible for implementing the proper and agreed safeguards to protect and secure Hayfield's data stores.

 

Operational Role:

Daily

  • Check Local Network Serviceability.

  • Check Network Domain Server Status.

  • Check Terminal Server Status.

  • Check Virtual Private Networks to Residences.

  • Check Printer Hardware Status.

  • Check Email Server Status.

  • Check Internet Security Logs.

  • Check Anti-Virus Software.

  • Check Backup Sets and Action Restore Requests.

  • Resolve Any Issues from the Above.

  • Resolve User Support Issues on Occurrence.

 

Additional Tasks As Appropriate

  • Upload and Install all Required Software Update Patches.

  • Manage User Logon Accounts and their Desktop Environments.

  • Set and Administer All Network and Application Security including the Internet.

  • Self Educate on IT Change and Development.

  • Check and Develop the Service User Database.

  • Develop the Hayfield Intranet.

  • Develop or Modify Business Information Systems [Accounts Software and Accounting Databases / Personnel and Wages Databases].

  • Recommend or Assist on Software Based Projects.

  • Check and Correct Hayfield Data Storage.

  • Install / Repair or Co-ordinate Software and Hardware Change.

  • Provide or Arrange User Training.

  • Undertake Specialised Graphics or Printing Needs [Including Advertising / Photography and Video].

  • Identify / Assess and Recommend on Technological Change - Computing and Telecommunications.

  • Arrange Quotes / Order / Receive and Install New Technology as Required.

  • Advise and Recommend on IT Strategy to the Management Team.

  • Devise Policy and Operational Guidelines for all Matters Relating to Technology.

  • Document the Administration of All Technology Systems.

 

The IT administrator is directly responsible to the Hayfield Director.
