To be accountable, in
the first instance to the Day Care Manager and in his absence the Depute or
Director.

To carry out various
types of repair work in the Day Centre and Residential premises of Hayfield.

To offer advice to the
Manager with regard to any technical or repair tasks within the
organisation.

To ensure appropriate
standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained in all areas,
particularly on work tasks.

To assist the Manager
to determine whether a repair can be carried out by the Handy man or whether
the task requires and outside contractor/tradesman.

To advise the Manager
about stock requirements, ordering etc. in relation to light bulbs,
fluorescent tubes, wood, nails, crews, paint etc.

To be prepared to
undertake training as requested by Management, which is relevant to the job
description.

To be able to work
unsupervised and use own initiative as appropriate.

To follow a work
schedule to ensure all repair work is carried out in an acceptable
timescale.

To ensure that
appropriate Health & Safety measures and procedures are followed.

Report to Management
any infringement or faults pertaining to H&S immediately.

Test fire/intruder
alarm system weekly and record/report any errors.
-
Deal with visiting
tradesmen in the event of the Manager being absent or with Management
direction.

Any other tasks as
required by Hayfield as reasonable in the course of duties.
